Da Paolo Gastronomia – A Review of Their Coffee

Walk into Gastronomia and the first thing you’ll notice is its layout. It’s bizarre and peculiar but captivating. I visited Gastronomia on 11th July 2020 after an arduous walk around The Grandstand, hunting for a new car to no avail.

Fun fact; Gastronomia is situated in an old retail store. When it took over, about 30 years ago, no major changes were made to the interior design and so it feels like you’re there shopping for clothes and not for food and drinks. The building itself has been about since the 1800s.

Entrance of Da Paolo Gastronomia

Ambience –
Classy and bougie (not one-bit ratchet) with warm lighting. The scrumptious food on display amplifies your hunger. The outdoor seating is a little cramped however there are seats on the inside.
7/10

Aroma –
Slight smell of dark chocolate.

Presentation –
I was a little disappointed that my Flat White was served in a latte glass and not in the usual smaller cup. However, this might be because I got a large-sized drink? No latte art but there was a thick layer of foam.

Body and Taste –
Breaking into the drink was beautiful. The foam had a lovely rich texture. Sadly, this first sip was the best. Thin and disappointing body with a slightly sour aftertaste.
6/10

Cost –
Regular sized classic espresso drinks were priced at $5.50. A large costs $6.90. These are reasonable prices for a cup of coffee.
8/10

The Verdict –
Great place for food, wine and pastries. Be sure to try their Crodo when you visit, which is a cross between a croissant and a doughnut. It has a very interesting taste and texture. Worth a buy!
Overall score = 34/50 or 68%
